As an Environmental Scientist, you will work with our staff of environmental and engineering professionals in our California offices dedicated to providing integrated services on a wide variety of projects throughout California including EIR, NEPA and CEQA projects. An understanding of the interaction between the phases of multi-disciplinary projects is desirable. Your work will be performed under the supervision of senior and principal scientists and engineers and in collaboration with other commensurate staff.

You will have the opportunity to represent SLR with clients throughout proposal, contracting, and project performance phases and will be responsible for day-to-day execution of the technical aspects of projects. Additionally, you will have limited responsibility for the financial management of these projects, including working with the project manager to maintain budget and perform subcontractor management.

The ideal candidate for this position is a motivated environmental consulting professional with the desire to foster technical excellence and maintain strong internal and external client relationships. This candidate will be an integral part of our growth strategy and must be willing to perform work both in the office and in the field.   • The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $92,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.
  • Full-time, permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancement Key Responsibilities Responsibilities :
  • Executing day-to-day activities of projects under the direction of the project manager and in collaboration with other personnel
  • Conducting site visits
  • Preparing proposals and reviewing / writing environmental reports with Senior Scientist / Engineer guidance and review
  • Coordinating and collaborating on projects with SLR staff of project-level scientists, engineers, and consultants
  • Participating in meetings and agency consultation
  • Ensuring work is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with company safety rules and applicable regulatory, industry, and other pertinent standards. This includes, but is not limited to, development of health and safety plans, coordinating and participating in regular safety meetings and training, work site inspections, using required personal protective equipment, and responding to unsafe work hazards.
  • Conducting internal and client communications
  • Providing business development support, as directed by senior managers

Qualifications / Education / Memberships :

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering / sciences (Master’s Degree is a plus)
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • History of providing environmental consulting services for CEQA / NEPA / EIR projects
  • Understands environmental due diligence (Environmental Site Assessments)
  • Balances field and office assignments; strong organizational skills
  • Prepares technical deliverables, data analysis, and mapping for site assessment reports and remedial action plans and reports
  • Experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge
  • Manages task assignments and helps mentor / train entry level staff, as required
  • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and fosters a positive working relationship with the client
  • Systematically and pro-actively examines the various components of an issue to understand key elements and relationships and thinks strategically, considering a broad range of internal and external factors when solving problems and seeking input before making decisions
  • Completes tasks with minimal supervision and direction – self-starter
  • Demonstrates professional judgment, consistency, strong attention to detail, and background of high-quality work products
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong interest in safety
