What does this role look like?
The Supervisor, Cloud Operations and Services provides leadership and oversight on architecture, design, development, administration, support, and training related to all Cloud / Hybrid Cloud services involving but not limited to Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) or Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings. This role will apply technical knowledge, expertise, and foresight to evolve, build, and maintain an enterprise scale, geographically distributed environment for securely hosting CBE’s information systems and data.
The role will also provide strategic and technical leadership by ensuring that day-to-day operational demands are well balanced with longer-term architectural and technical considerations. In so doing, this position will guide, develop, and mentor staff by modelling the use of automation, and orchestration tools as well as innovative approaches, methods, and technologies across the traditional technical domains of Networking, IT Security, Server / Server Virtualization, and Cloud Services.
The Supervisor, Cloud Operations and Services will also work with other Technical and non-Technical Leaders, System / Enterprise Architects, Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), and consultants to achieve excellence through continuous operational improvement of services delivered throughout the CBE’s enterprise technology stack.
What will you do?
Technical leadership, management and planning of all Cloud and Hybrid Cloud operations and services
- Researches, assesses, and recommends Cloud based solutions.
- Develops and manages Cloud / Hybrid Cloud processes and tools to assist with planning, trending, usage monitoring, and alarming of services.
- Utilizes Cloud management toolsets to collect analytics and trending data.
- Supervises and guides automation efforts including programming and / or script solutions to ensure accuracy and consistency with standards and practices.
- Identifies manual processes and strategically automates them.
- Codes and / or scripts accurate solutions consistent with requirements.
- Leads design, installation and configuration work for Internet Gateway Services (IGS) and other data communications pertaining to Cloud / Hybrid Cloud environments.
- Analyses, monitors and reports on performance, bandwidth, and connectivity to ensure that Cloud Operations and Services team and other technical teams are proactively screening events and occurrences for potential problems or performance degradation.
- Prioritizes and participates in work to resolve LAN, WAN, Internet, and other enterprise networking infrastructures problems.
- Administers and supervises the administration of systems, applications, and appliances.
- Creates and maintains design specifications, installation tasks, configuration specifications, maintenance procedures, and processes for all Cloud / Hybrid Cloud systems.
- Proactively governs systems performance, health, alerts, and ensures appropriate preventative and / or corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.
- Manages backup and recovery services for traditional infrastructure stacks and Cloud services that are consistent with stakeholder and operational readiness expectations.
- Establishes compliance parameters and targets for computing and storage related infrastructure to ensure they meet or exceed industry best practices.
- Directs team priorities to meet operational needs and / or fulfil service level agreements in terms of the management of Cloud based resources.
- Manages and coordinates remediation activities related to all services hosted in the Private or Public Clouds across the various technical teams.
- Initiates, plans, coordinates, and executes activities related to infrastructure and / or Cloud based service upgrades, and changes.
- Completes and appropriately addresses all incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
- Proactively monitors Cloud platforms, networks, systems, and data for security breaches, intrusions, or Indicators of Compromise (IOC).
- Organises and reports on accurate and timely audits, vulnerability assessments and remediation actions.
- Analyses systems, security logs, and datasets to identify errors, inconsistencies, anomalies, patterns, deviations, intrusions, inappropriate activity or other Indicators of Compromise (IOC).
- Works collaboratively with the Supervisor of IT Security to ensure all aspects of Cloud / Hybrid Cloud security align with industry best practices.
- Engages with the Security Operations team on security investigations.
- Proposes course of action and work priorities to address security related concerns and / or Security Alert Bulletin recommendations.
- Conducts research to assist with identifying Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs), and advisory threats.
Leads the Architecture, Design, Implementation, Governance, and Standards for Cloud and On-premises based solutions, integrations and automations :
Provides technical leadership and guidance into the adoption and integration of various Public and Private Cloud platforms.Leads the research on Cloud (public, private, and hybrid) architectures, frameworks, and developments.Directs the architecture, design, planning, installation, and configuration of Cloud and hybrid Cloud solutions.Leads the development of new standards via the Architecture Design Library.Advises for planning purposes on system renewals, and capacity enhancements.Validates the designs, development, and testing related to automations.Establishes automation frameworks as a catalyst for the automation of manual workflows and processes.Leads the integration of Cloud services into existing and new architecture designs to aid in system optimization, data protection, and Disaster Recovery.Manages and governs the corporate directory services environments including directory federations, and integration with CBE Cloud services.Contributes to the architecture, design, and maintenance of Internet routing protocols, and monitors Internet Peering connections / services.Collaborates with application owners to ensure applications and systems are managed according to their respective lifecycles.Negotiates Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) related to the consumption / utilization of Cloud based services with stakeholders.Ensures operational support teams are structured and resourced to meet or exceed the agreed upon SLA’s.Manages strategic relationships with various technology and non-technology Subject Matter Experts to ensure availability, reliability, scalability, and security of Cloud services.Creates and institutes standards to ensure that maintenance tasks for Cloud and Hybrid Cloud infrastructure meets or exceeds performance, and availability targets.Researches and stays current on Cloud (public, private and hybrid) architectures, frameworks, and developments.Carries out, documents, and presents costing analyses, and comparisons for decision-making.Provides Quality Control expertise and guidance

Education and Experience
University degree in Computer Science (or equivalent degree in Information Technology); and8 years of working experience leading an advanced level of technical teams that involve architecting, designing, building, or supporting Server, Storage, Network, Security, or Cloud technologies.An equivalent combination of directly related post-secondary education, and directly related experience may be considered.Computer programming experience with languages including C / C++, ASP.NET, Java, PHP, Python, Bash, Pearl and Ruby.Solid knowledge of Active Directory, and Active Directory Federation Services and / or Azure Active Directory.Advanced knowledge, and experience working on traditional server infrastructure such as HP, Dell, Cisco, Lenovo and / or Hyper-converged Infrastructure stack(s).Advanced experience supporting server virtualization technologies such as VMWare or Hyper-V.Experience supporting Fibre Channel, and iSCSI SAN / NAS / DAS deployments in a Data Centre environment.Strong experience with Microsoft Windows PowerShell scripting.Advanced knowledge of network protocols including DNS, DHCP, NTP and TCP / IP.Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud Services, Amazon AWS and / or Google Cloud Platform would be an asset.ITIL certifications and / or COBIT certification desirable.Formal Project Management training / certification (Agile, Scrum, ITIL, TOGAF, etc.) would be an asset.Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
