We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Accountant to take ownership of our day-to-day accounting operations. With 3–5 years of accounting experience, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and is excited to work across the full accounting lifecycle—AR, AP, close, revenue recognition, forecasting, taxes, and process improvements.
You will also manage a team of one, providing guidance, review, and workflow coordination. This role offers a unique opportunity to understand the full picture of how accounting operates in a high-growth startup, with broad exposure across systems, processes, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Manage and support one team member, including task prioritization, review of work, and general guidance.
Accounts Receivable (AR) – Full Ownership
Prepare and issue invoices to school districts; ensure accuracy of PO details, addresses, and formats.
Maintain the AR aging report, monitor overdue balances, and lead collection efforts.
Coordinate with Sales Operations to validate data before billing.
Maintain complete and accurate billing documentation; provide AR updates for cash forecasting.
Accounts Payable (AP)
Process vendor bills and payments accurately and on schedule.
Lead 1099 filings for contractors.
Coordinate international billings.
Month-End Close & Reporting
Own the month-end close process and complete all tasks within 5 business days.
Review reconciliations : bank, credit cards, prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, and deferred revenue.
Prepare monthly reporting and perform Actual vs Budget variance analysis.
Forecasting & Planning
Prepare weekly and monthly cash forecasts based on AR, AP, and operational inflows / outflows.
Support the annual budget process and mid-year forecast refresh.
Process Improvement
Help streamline and document the Sales-to-Cash (S2C) workflow.
Strengthen internal controls and enhance efficiency across accounting operations.
Support upcoming system improvements (billing tools, revenue systems, ERP upgrades).
Tax Support
Assist with franchise, business, and corporate tax schedules and documentation.
Maintain sales tax tracking within QuickBooks; prepare multi-state sales tax filings.
Support tax advisors during year-end processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a U.S. university.
3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally in a startup or service-based environment.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and practical accounting operations.
Fluent English; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, self-starter mindset.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel / Google Sheets.
