Position Description

We're looking for an experienced senior level developer to help us develop developer-centric accessibility tools. We work primarily in TypeScript and Node.js, but also write some integrations in other languages such as Java, Ruby, Python, and C#, so the willingness to learn other languages is a plus. This position will be responsible for helping us continue to shift left by enabling developers to test their code’s accessibility before even merging it.

As a member of the team, you will leverage DOM analysis, code scanning techniques, browser APIs, and modern web technologies to build developer-focused tools including Node.js libraries, VSCode extensions, CLI utilities, and APIs. You'll work on the tooling infrastructure that powers accessibility testing and may contribute directly to axe-core itself, our industry-leading accessibility testing engine. As a market leader, Deque is pushing the boundaries of what's possible in developer accessibility tooling, and you will play a critical role in creating innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate into developers' existing workflows.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and maintain TypeScript products, libraries, and APIs that help companies find and fix accessibility issues in their code and on their websites

Build and enhance developer tooling infrastructure including Node.js libraries, VSCode extensions, CLI tools, and testing framework integrations

Write and review technical proposals

Write new features, unit tests, integration tests, and related

Assist in the review of pull requests, including security reviews

Requirements

4+ years of experience with TypeScript

4+ years of experience with Node.js

1+ years of experience with with ReactJS

Working knowledge of WCAG and ARIA

Working knowledge of web accessibility

Demonstrated work on a product team

Demonstrated work on JavaScript libraries, frameworks, or plugins

Basic secure web programming knowledge and experience

Source code management, pull request reviews, and related

Ability to work independently and learn as needed, but also know when to ask for support
