Summary : Overview
The Garden Club Coordinator leads and oversees the schools Garden Club fostering a hands-on learning environment where students develop an appreciation for nature responsibility teamwork and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities :
- Plan and Organize Club Activities
- Develop seasonal gardening projects (planting harvesting maintenance).
- Create a monthly activity calendar aligned with weather and campus events.
Supervise and Guide Students
Teach basic gardening skills safety procedures and proper tool use.Promote teamwork leadership and respect for nature.Garden Maintenance
Oversee planting beds raised gardens pots compost areas and shared outdoor spaces.Ensure tools and materials are stored safely and properly maintained.Collaboration
Coordinate with teachers for cross-curricular connections (science art nutrition ecology).Communicate with parents staff and administration regarding club activities needs and events.Resource Management
Maintain inventory of gardening supplies.Request or secure donations of soil plants seeds and tools as needed.Manage small budgets or fundraising efforts if applicable.Safety & Supervision
Ensure safe practices during all gardening activities.Monitor student behavior and uphold school expectations.Event Planning & Community Engagement
Organize harvest days garden workdays or showcase events.Promote environmental stewardship within the school community.Qualifications
Enthusiasm for gardening environmental education and working with students.Organizational and communication skills.Ability to supervise groups of students safely.Basic knowledge of gardening techniques (training can be provided).Time Commitment
Weekly or biweekly club meetings (3045 minutes each).Seasonal garden care outside meeting times as needed.Purpose
To inspire students to appreciate the beauty of nature understand where food comes from and take pride in nurturing and caring for their school environment.Requirements
Minimum Qualifications :
Education
High Diploma with demonstrated relevant equivalent experience in working with school-age children and / or youth development.Skills & Licensure
At least 18 years of ageEnthusiasm for gardening environmental education and working with students.Organizational and communication skills.Ability to supervise groups of students safely.Basic knowledge of gardening techniques (training can be provided).Valid driver licenseMust pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screeningThis is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities skills duties or working conditions associated with the job.
