Either morning availability 9-12 pm, Afternoon Availability 4 pm-,5 : 30 pm, or evening 7-8 : 30 pm (In need of all 3 times, 4-5 : 30 pm most of all)
Description of Duties and Tasks
Teaches courses as assigned which correlate with the catalog descriptions and course outlines and in a manner designed to assist the student to achieve the specific objectives of the course.
Advises students of requirements established by the instructor for meeting course objectives.
Periodically examines and informs each student of their progress toward achieving course objectives.
Participates in evaluations of curriculum and instruction.
Participates in the evaluation of instructional materials.
Knowledge
Understanding of second language acquisition principles and adult learning styles.
Strategies for teaching English to multilingual learners at varying proficiency levels.
Techniques for integrating listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Awareness of cultural differences and their impact on learning.
Familiarity with creating or adapting instructional materials to meet learners’ needs.
Basic knowledge of using technology to support instruction (e.g., Zoom, Google Docs, online learning tools).
Skills
Communicate both orally and in writing.
Establish effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the business community.
Plan and organize the programs and activities assigned.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Effectively using interpersonal and written communications skills.
A positive attitude and a passion for working in the community.
Experience teaching ESL.
Flexible, dynamic, and the ability to create a community within the classroom.
Bilingual English-Spanish.
Lesson Planning experience.
Planning and delivering lessons appropriate for a specific ESL proficiency level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced).
Clear and effective communication in English.
Breaking down grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation in ways that fit the assigned level.
Using activities and materials that build confidence and fluency within that level.
Creating a supportive, inclusive classroom environment.
Patience and adaptability to different learning speeds within the same level.
Cultural competence and sensitivity when working with diverse backgrounds.
Active listening and ability to give constructive, encouraging feedback.
Basic technology skills for instruction and resource sharing (e.g., Zoom, Google Docs, online learning tools).
Pay Rate
