Our San Jose law firm is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys in complex and fast-paced litigation matters. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of California and federal civil procedure, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support attorneys in all phases of civil litigation from pre-litigation through trial and post-judgment.
Draft, edit, and format litigation documents including complaints, motions, pleadings, discovery requests / responses, subpoenas, and correspondence.
Perform legal research and fact investigation using court databases and online research tools.
Manage case files, organize evidence, and maintain document databases and discovery platforms.
Coordinate and assist with e-discovery, including document review, production, and tracking.
Prepare deposition summaries, medical chronologies, and other case-related summaries.
Assist with trial preparation, including witness binders, exhibit lists, trial notebooks, and logistics.
File documents in state and federal courts, including electronic filing (e-filing).
Monitor court deadlines, maintain calendars, and ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.
Communicate professionally with clients, experts, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors.
Qualifications
Required :
Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program OR qualification under California Business & Professions Code §6450.
3+ years of litigation paralegal experience (California practice required; Bay Area / Santa Clara County experience a plus).
Strong understanding of California Code of Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
Proficiency with legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
Experience with e-filing in state and federal courts.
Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred :
Experience with trial preparation and trial support.
Familiarity with e-discovery tools (Relativity, Everlaw, DISCO, etc.).
Experience working in a fast-paced or high-volume litigation practice
