Lateral Attorney

A leading plaintiff litigation firm is seeking a Trial Lawyer to support a senior litigation team in Houston. This role requires full-time, 100% in-office presence and offers immediate involvement in high-profile personal injury and complex civil litigation matters if experience aligns. The ideal candidate is confident, autonomous, precision-driven in case preparation, persistent in tracking down answers, and comfortable owning tasks and driving next steps quickly in high-stakes legal environments.

Position : Lateral Attorney / Trial Lawyer

Location : Houston, Texas

Schedule : Full-time - 100% in-office

Pay : DOE

Duties & Responsibilities

Support senior litigation counsel on complex personal injury plaintiff matters

Take and defend depositions

Research and draft briefs, motions, responses, and demand strategy correspondence

Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials

Communicate proactively and consistently with clients on case progress

Participate actively in case workup and trial preparation

Manage competing priorities with accuracy, discretion, and on-time delivery

Travel and work extended hours when required for caseload demands and court deadlines

Maintain ownership of workflow autonomously

Required Qualifications

J.D. from an ABA accredited law school

3-5+ years of post-law-school civil litigation experience in a law firm environment (plaintiff or defense both considered)

Strong oral communication, legal writing, analytical reasoning, and organizational skills

Ability to work independently without significant supervision

Comfortable taking ownership of tasks quickly and driving next steps confidently

Willing to travel

Preferred Experience

3-5 years of civil litigation

Experience researching / writing motions or briefs

Experience arguing motions in court

Trial or courtroom experience preferred
