Entry Level Civil / Environmental Engineer (Environmental Consulting : Remediation, and Solid Waste Design) – (June 2026 Start) – Madison, WI

The Opportunity :

Tetra Tech is adding an entry level engineer (graduating from college in May / June 2026) with interest in environmental compliance focused on Remediation, and Solid Waste Permitting, Landfill Design and CQA / construction oversight. This role will be based in our Madison, WI office.

Your Impact :

This is an excellent opportunity for you to utilize your passion for science and engineering while working on civil / environmental engineering projects including : solid waste management, landfill gas control and monitoring, air quality testing and emissions, geotechnical engineering, stormwater design, hydrologic modeling, grading and topographic plans, environmental permitting, environmental monitoring, drafting (AutoCAD / CIVIL 3D), cost estimation, specifications, report preparation (Word / Excel), and construction quality assurance (CQA).

Your Role :

Prepare plans and specifications.

Perform engineering design calculations.

Analyze reports, maps, drawings, environmental data, and aerial photographs.

Prepare environmental monitoring plans.

Draft construction plans using AutoCAD and CIVIL 3D.

Prepare construction cost estimations.

Operate various field equipment (e.g., air monitoring and sampling, survey [total station and GPS], groundwater sampling and water quality equipment).

Collect and / or review environmental monitoring data (air, gas, stormwater, groundwater).

Prepare environmental reports.

Oversee construction projects to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction and safety standards.

Your Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical or Geological Engineering; experience in a civil or environmental engineering role preferred (e.g., internship and / or co-operative experiences).

F.E. Fundamentals of Engineering completion required.

Experience in landfill design, permitting or environmental monitoring a plus; knowledge of environmental regulations a plus.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD and CIVIL 3D. Proficiency with AutoCAD and CIVIL 3D a plus.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Solid organizational and time management skills.

Self-disciplined / motivated individual who also works well in a team environment.

A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Unwavering personal integrity.

Has obtained or will obtain Wisconsin EIT certification within 6 months of employment.
