Position Summary The Architectural Sales Rep is responsible for writing specifications for commercial construction projects. This position works with architects, developers, owners, and general contractors.
This position influences and decides which NABCO products are appropriate for each construction project.
Essential Functions Provide specifications for automatic swing and sliding doors.
Ensure that all specifications meet relevant building codes.
Review drawings and provide solutions utilizing NABCO products. Prepare catalog cuts as requested by architects.
Visit weekly with Architects in the marketplace, perform American Institute of Architects (AIA) style presentations .
Frequent and regular visits to local customers and potential customers.
Travel is required approximately 40-50% of the time.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) format required.
Knowledge of pedestrian doors & hardware is preferred.
Current computer and customer relationship management (CRM) software familiarity preferred.
Possess time management skills to meet deadlines and set priorities with little direct supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Knowledge of International Building Code (IBC), NFPA 101-Life Safety, NFPA 80-Fire Doors and Frames, NFPA 105 and all ADA compliance regulations preferred.
Education, Training, Experience Associate degree from a technical / vocational school or equivalent practical experience.
Current Architectural Hardware Consultants (AHC) certification preferred but not required.
Construction Specifications Institute Certifications a plus.
Architectural or drafting experience a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands Work environment is dynamic.
Significant travel is required since frequent and regular visits to local customers and potential customers is necessary.
Must drive, walk, and work in all weather conditions, including hazardous on rare occasion.
Periods of sitting and working at a computer may also be necessary.
Sedentary work is performed in an office.
Typical office equipment such as a computer, laptop, and phone are used.
There may be exposure to factories or jobsites that include noisy, dusty, and dirty environments and motorized equipment that may pose safety hazards.
Reaching is necessary above shoulder height and below the waist.
Lifting up to 30 lbs. as required to assist with materials; proper lifting techniques required.
Travel averaging 40-50% may also be requested to any company manufacturing and branch locations in the US and Canada.
