RND Architects is seeking a collaborative, community-focused architect to join our practice as a Project Architect.
Based in Durham, RND is an award-winning design firm specializing in renovation and adaptive reuse for higher-education, healthcare, and government facilities and institutions across North Carolina. Role Highlights
- Lead architectural projects from concept through construction, providing both design vision and technical oversight
- Prepare design and construction drawings in coordination with Principals and Project Managers
- Coordinate day-to-day progress across internal teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure cohesive, high-quality outcomes
- Mentor, support, and lead emerging professionals and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture that fosters professional growth
- Collaborate with Principals and Project Managers to navigate challenges related to schedule, budget, or scope
- Represent the firm with confidence and professionalism

Professional degree in Architecture and licensed to practice in North CarolinaMinimum of 10 years of experience in architectural practice, with a strong background in public-sector work and demonstrated leadership managing projects of varying scale and complexityProven ability to translate conceptual design into technically sound, buildable solutionsProficiency with key design and project tools such as Revit, Bluebeam, SketchUp, and Microsoft ProjectsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable leading consultant coordination, client interactions, and internal team collaboration with clarity and confidenceThorough understanding of project workflows, from pre-design to closeoutAdvanced knowledge of building codes, construction standards, and project delivery methods, including awareness of risk, liability, and professional responsibilitySolution-oriented and growth mindset with the ability to take initiative while working collaborativelyInterest in contributing to firm growth
