POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Engineer will complete a rotation that builds understanding of the company’s products and design / launch processes. The Engineer will demonstrate experience in 3D modeling parts and assemblies, the release of build packages for high mix production, continuous improvement and flow optimization for a value stream, and creation and evaluation of new products from concept to launch into high mix production. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for building robust specifications, performing the appropriate technical analyses and calculations necessary to ensure field robustness, agency compliance and form / fit / function, and prescribing the proper validation testing.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Model parts and create assemblies utilizing AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other engineering software packages
- Review and interpret HVAC design drawings, specifications, and equipment submittals for customer specifications
- Design Mechanical parts and assemblies in support of all engineering, including failure mode and effect analysis, advanced predictive engineering tools, performance testing and analysis, and agency certifications. Also, ensure all work adheres to applicable codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Develop a deep understanding of the derivative order launch process from specification / order initiation to build and ship.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, controls, and project management.
- Provide support in troubleshooting production issues related to performance, fit, finish, and BOM accuracy.
Perform structural, thermal, air, and water flow calculations to ensure proper product functionality.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure new products are optimized for manufacturability, installation, and field service.Actively participate in job reviews, ECR / ECN work, VA / VE items, and projects,Supervisory Responsibilities :

Education :
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering8-10 plus years of industry experience in lieu of Degree will be consideredExperience :
Two plus years of experience in a manufacturing environmentHVAC industry experience preferred, HVAC design and / or application experience a plusUnderstanding of mechanical codes, standards, and best practices (ASHRAE knowledge is advantageous).Experience with HVAC load calculations and duct / piping design preferred.Working knowledge of controls integrationComputer Skills :
Proficiency in 3D Modeling Software to design Sheet Metal parts, sub-assemblies, and top-level assemblies, checking for form, fit, and function.Ability to convert 3D sheet metal parts to flat patterns / DXF files in preparation for manufacturing.Proficiency in advanced modeling and predictive analyses a plus (FEA, CFD, etc.)Working familiarity with regulatory entities, including UL, ETL, ARI, and ASHRAE, preferred.Skilled with MS Office SuiteCertificates & Licenses :
Lean, or DMAIC Six Sigma background preferredOther Requirements :
Electrical and Electronics knowledge is a strong plus.Understanding elements of Product Cost is a strong plus.Introduction to Project Management is a strong plus.
