Principal Electrical Engineer Lead

About This Position

We're seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer Lead with prior experience in developing high-frequency (13.56 MHz) and Bluetooth-enabled access control readers. You will play a key role in the development of reader products and supporting technologies for the commercial and multifamily access control markets.

This role involves composing schematics and PCB layout of new access control products for the commercial and multifamily markets. Your attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities will be critical to your success. You will report to the Director of Hardware Engineering.

Core Duties

Produce electrical designs, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and cost targets
Ensure compliance and certification requirements are met (e.g., FCC, UL, etc)
Drive failure analysis, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in technical reviews by the Director of Hardware Engineering and the Chief Technology Officer

Qualifications

Deep understanding of electrical requirements for industry-leading access control hardware

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, written and verbal

Experience with Agile development methodologies

Experience interacting with contract manufacturers and supply chain partners

Beneficial Skills

Knowledge of power and thermal issues associated with high-density PCBs

Understanding of requirements needed to produce FCC and UL compliant products

Experience And Education

Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field

15+ years computer engineering or electrical engineering industry experience

8+ years experience leading engineering teams

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk (standing desks available)

Working in an office environment using typical office equipment

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs

Travel Requirement

Traveling less than 5% of the time.

Work Location

Either remote or on location at Draper Utah office

Annual salary starting at $155,000
