Food Technologist
Location : Elk Grove, CA
MUST HAVES :
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Cereal Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
2–3 years of experience in food product development, preferably in fresh or frozen baked goods or tortillas
Strong project management and analytical skills
Solid understanding of food manufacturing processes and plant operations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
Position Overview :
Join a leading food manufacturer as a Food Technologist , where you’ll play a key role in developing, maintaining, and improving products within the tortilla category. This position combines hands-on innovation with cross-functional collaboration across operations, finance, sales, and marketing to bring new ideas from concept to commercialization.

Key Responsibilities :
Lead new product development initiatives from concept to launch, driven by customer and market needs.
Translate customer requirements into clear, actionable formulation and process parameters .
Conduct and manage shelf-life testing , data collection, and documentation.
Oversee product and ingredient testing , including pre-batching and sample preparation.
Monitor and validate plant trials to ensure compliance with specifications.
Perform analytical and sensory evaluations using food science principles.
Develop and verify nutritional information, labeling , and ensure regulatory compliance .
Support prototype development and commercialization efforts with Sales, Marketing, and Operations.
Execute cost optimization and quality improvement projects across product lines.
Maintain product specifications, technical data sheets , and related documentation.
Participate in innovation programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
Preferred Experience :
Previous hands-on experience in bakery or tortilla product development .
Familiarity with food production environments and basic plant operations.
