Job summary :
Responsible for initial greeting and seating of guests, answering phones, taking messages and reservations, maintaining an accurate wait when necessary and bidding goodbye to all guests.
Essential functions :
Must be willing and able to :
- Determine proper amount of reservations to be accepted for each shift according to standing operating procedure
- Take all reservation calls and record necessary information
- Confirm applicable reservations according to standing operating procedure
- Seat the restaurant evenly and in an orderly manner so that the dining room looks well filled at all times and so that all servers have a fair share of the guests
- Maintain an accurate head count of guests seated in each station
- Fill out completely all sections of a telephone message pad and pass on to the appropriate person within 10 minutes of the call
- Check washrooms and coordinate with bus staff cleaning requirements
- Ensure that host desk and waiting area are kept clean and organized throughout the shift
- Sell and accurately account for gift certificate sales
- Move tables as needed for larger or smaller parties
- Relate to guests pleasantly and with good humor
- Communicate effectively with guests

Qualification standards :
Must provide a minimum of 1-year full service restaurant experience or the equivalent. Must have accurate mathematic skills.
