Franklin Biolabs, Inc. is in search of a Clinical Veterinarian who will be responsible for maintaining the physical and psychological health of large and small laboratory animals utilized in all research; ensuring compliance with regulations governing humane and ethical treatment and use of laboratory animals by leading a team of highly specialized lab animal care staff / veterinary technicians; assisting and advising study directors with animal model development, humane endpoints and breeding as needed.
- Ensures quality animal supply for studies through health screening of animal resources imported for use by Franklin Biolabs.
- Advises on the project design and implementation of studies as well as oversee / provide guidance to staff responsible for study completion including animal assignment, sample collection and processing, and sample delivery to the research director to meet accelerated timelines.
- Assists and advises the IACUC Director on submission of IACUC protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance within Franklin, and provide support to the post-approval monitoring of IACUC protocols and animal study areas for Franklin. A license to practice veterinary medicine in at least one US state and the ability to obtain a license in Pennsylvania within 1 year of employment is required. DACLAM (or eligible) is required.
Research Support
Provides in vivo testing services that comply with worldwide regulatory requirements, standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and departmental policies; reviews, edits, and prepares study protocols.Provides medical and surgical support in multiple laboratory animal speciesDevelops and validates small and large animal models.Uses advanced biomethodologies to administer test and control articles.Performs noninvasive physiologic monitoring as required.Analyzes, reports, and distributes research data.Veterinary Care
Provides oversight to the clinical care program for all laboratory animals under the care of Franklin Biolabs.Provides leadership in the care and resolution of complex medical cases and cases related to experimental outcomes.Maintains accurate medical and veterinary records in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices in accordance with the Code of Federal regulations for FDA review.Provides after-hours emergency veterinary care as needed.Education and Experience
Minimum of DVM requiredPrefer 2+ years of direct experience working in the lab animal medicine field.Experience directly supervising personnel : veterinary technicians, etc. preferred.Certifications or Licenses
Board certification or eligible by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine or equivalent international certification.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
