Position Summary Information

Summary Performs work in the operation of a vehicle to assure safe transportation of Mobile Healthcare Clinic to and from various destinations. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a variety of records, such as time at each stop, the purpose of the trip, area around the vehicle checks, mileage, and vehicle maintenance including fueling, oil check, gray and black water. This position is 30+ hours per week. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned.

  • Drives CBU mobile healthcare clinic for the purpose of driving the clinic to the clinical practice sites over scheduled routes to and from CBU in a safe and timely manner.
  • Maintain a variety of records : driving time, purpose of trip, mileage, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Knowledge and comply with traffic and highway safety rules and regulations.
  • Assist with the set up, cleaning, and breakdown of the clinic as scheduled and / or required.
  • Ensure the clinic is safely and securely stored.
  • Maintain and support functions of site safety personnel where appropriate.
  • Assess incidents, complaints, accidents and / or potential emergency situations (e.g. road hazards, medical emergencies, accidents, etc.) for the purpose of resolving and / or recommending a resolution to the situation.
  • Assist clinical personnel, patients, students and others involved in the clinic care and operations for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from clinic during normal clinic and emergency situations.
  • Fuels assigned vehicle (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining vehicle in a safe operating condition.
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe operating condition of the vehicle and complying with mandated guidelines.
  • Maintains and keeps logbook or Electronic Logging Device accurate and complete for DPH inspection.
  • Reports defects or maintenance problems with vehicle to supervisor.
  • Establish and ensure a safe environment for clinical personnel, students, and patients.
  • Understand and agree to abide by the mission of CBU and the CBU College of Nursing.

Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities.   • Ability and skill to operate light-duty passenger vehicles (Class 1-3), medium-duty passenger vehicles (Class 4-6), and upon airbrake endorsement, heavy-duty passenger vehicles (Class 7, 8).

  • Ability to pass a random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol tests.
  • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse mobile health clinic team.
  • Strong organizational skillsand detail oriented.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to enter information into existing record keeping systems.
  • Ability to resolve client complaints and concerns.

  • REQUIRED CERTIFICATION / PERMITS : Must possess the following on the effective date of hire and maintain certification and as a condition of continued employment :

  • Possess a valid California Class “B” driver’s license with a passenger endorsement, medical card. PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Thephysicaldemandsdescribedherearerepresentativeofthosethatmustbe metbyanemployeetosuccessfullyperformtheessentialfunctionsofthisjob.Whileperformingtheduties ofthisjobtheemployeeisregularlyrequiredtostand;walk;sit;andrequiressufficienthand,arm,finger,leg and foot dexterity to operate a bus. The Clinic Driver has a moderately strenuous job. The Driver must sit for long periods and requires intense concentration, particularly in poor driving conditions. Driver must work in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person to passengers in the vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. WORK ENVIRONMENT : Theworkenvironmentcharacteristicsdescribedherearerepresentativeof those anemployeeencounterswhile performingtheessential functionsofthisjob.Thejobisperformed undersometemperature extremesandunderconditionswith someexposure torisk ofinjuryand / orillness. The noise level in the work environment will fluctuate. Work is normally performed outdoors and various locations, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Education and / or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Diesel operation and experience preferred preferred. Six months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
