We are currently seeing a General Manager of Operations. Key responsibilities include :
Operational Leadership
- Develop and maintain operational metrics that drive performance at the facility, shift, and individual associate levels in the areas of safety, quality, inventory accuracy, productivity, and damage reduction
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve operations and standardize business processes to increase performance, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.
- Evaluate existing warehousing procedures and design improved methods to increase efficiency on the floor and docks, ensuring optimal use of space, labor, and equipment.
Resource & Labor Management
Perform daily balancing of labor availability against volume requirements to ensure workload alignment across the facility.Increase warehouse productivity by effectively planning, organizing, and directing personnel resources.Create and maintain a well-trained, cross-functional staff capable of internal promotion through mentoring and development.Team Management & Employee Development
Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable workplace culture that supports teamwork, open communication, and continuous improvement across all levels of the operation.Partner with Human Resources to develop, implement, and measure the effectiveness of programs related to performance management, coaching, employee development, and workforce engagement.Ensure company policies—including budgeting, progressive discipline, recognition, and retention—are communicated, understood, and consistently enforced.Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of operational reports, records, and documentation.Manage warehouse-related budget and expense items and assist with annual budget planning.Participate in administrative staff meetings as well as relevant seminars, trainings, and leadership events.Safety & Compliance
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with company and regulatory standards.Perform all duties in compliance with safety policies and promote a culture of safety throughout the facility.Additional Responsibilities
Lead or support special projects as required.Perform any additional duties assigned in alignment with organizational needs.The skills and qualifications needed of a General Manager are outlined below :
Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.Three to five years of leadership / management experience in a materials & logistics environment.Proven ability in project management, applying supply chain technologies to solve business problems.APICS Certification and knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma practices a plus.Must have exceptional communication skills and exhibit a hands-on management approach that encourages change and creative problem-solving.Must have a working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in WMS, RF Applications, word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software.
