Senior Bookkeeper
A values-led UK-based property and social impact organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to oversee multi-entity bookkeeping operations across its growing housing group. This role is vital to ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making in a mission-driven business providing both temporary and long-term accommodation solutions.
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you'll lead the day-to-day finance function, optimise systems like Xero and ApprovalMax, and collaborate closely with leadership to maintain clean financial data and reporting. Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Lead weekly bookkeeping processes across multiple entities
- Oversee client invoicing, credit control, and supplier payments
- Manage bank reconciliations and ensure up-to-date cash flow data
- Maintain accurate intercompany accounts and deferred income records
- Track rental income and costs, ensuring correct allocations across properties
- Respond to finance-related queries via shared inboxes
Systems & Automation
Optimise and maintain workflows in Xero, Dext, ApprovalMax, and TellerooManage user access, system permissions, and integration integrityDrive automation and system improvements to streamline financial processesCollaborate with operations and tech teams to align financial and property systemsReporting & Compliance
Prepare weekly finance dashboards : cash position, debtors, and payablesLead preparation for monthly finance reviews with leadershipSupport quarterly UK VAT submissions and complianceEnsure accurate record-keeping aligned with UK financial regulationsQualifications and Experience
Essential :
Xero Certified Advisor with up-to-date certificationMinimum 35 years of senior-level bookkeeping experienceProven experience managing multi-entity financeIn-depth knowledge of intercompany transactions and reconciliationsSolid understanding of UK VAT requirements and submission timelinesHigh attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and system thinkingAccess to a reliable laptop / PC and stable internet connectionDesirable :
