The Research and Development Mechanical Technician will support the development, assembly, and testing of prototype cooling and electrical systems for datacenter applications. This role is critical to our engineering workflow, bridging the gap between design and deployment by building and refining test units, providing real-time feedback to engineers, and supporting iterative development cycles. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES : Support the assembly and modification of mechanical and electrical prototypes for thermal and electrical systems. Perform light mechanical fabrication, including small metal modifications (e.g., drilling, cutting, fastening, etc.). Install and wire electrical and electronic harnesses, components, and assemblies. Set up and configure sensor systems, including water valves, flow sensors, voltage / current meters, temperature sensors, and touchscreens. Follow and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics for accurate builds. Collaborate with engineering staff to validate designs and provide constructive feedback and redlines during all phases of development. Document build steps, issues, and test results clearly and consistently. Support equipment testing, troubleshooting, and validation efforts. REQUIREMENTS : Associate degree or equivalent technical / vocational training preferred. 3+ years of hands-on experience working as a technician in mechanical, electrical, or R&D environments. Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in light fabrication and prototype assembly. Proficient in electrical wiring and harnessing; comfortable working with AC / DC systems (up to 480VAC), sensors, and control interfaces. Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings. Experience with basic tools and equipment such as multimeters, hand tools, power tools, drill presses, etc. Familiarity with sensor configuration and calibration (e.g., flow meters, current sensors, digital controls).
