The ideal Certified Occupational Therapy candidate is one who enjoys collaborating and learning and who is dedicated and passionate about the therapy they provide. Ongoing supervision by an OT is provided. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant position reports to the Location Lead unless directed otherwise directed.
Job Responsibilities :
Perform patient care and related activities in accordance with best practice / evidence-based practice guidelines, while following an individualized plan of care based upon evaluation / reassessment findings according to clinical guidelines with the guidance of a registered occupational therapist.Perform patient care and related activities within the scope of their training and responsibilities, demonstrating basic clinical competenciesCommunicates effectively with patient / family / therapists / physicians and other health care professionals to promote quality patient careProvides instruction / education to patients and families / caregivers with accurate and thorough information consistently to patients and families concerning their participation in the continuity of careAssesses patient and family needs regarding their level of understanding, ability to assimilate information and the most desirable method of teachingMaintains a current awareness and participates in office quality activitiesHave a working knowledge about Sensory Integration, Visual Training, Sensory Feeding Therapy, Handwriting, Fine Motor, and ReflexesDocuments patient information in Electronic Medical Record according to office policies and clinic guidelines in timely mannerParticipates in staff development and attends health, safety and training in-services and other obligatory activitiesPerforms other essential functions as neededRequirements :
Associates Degree and current Texas license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy AssistantMust be articulate, courteous, and supportive in dealing with clinical and administrative colleagues, patients and parents with ability to honor confidentialityTwo years pediatric experience preferred
