Senior Principal Electronics Engineer Computer System Architect

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer Computer System Architect to our team in Palmdale, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.

The candidate will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment working closely with other engineers and technicians in a lab-like environment to integrate, test, and troubleshoot software / hardware systems in complex IT systems.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Provide software, hardware, and system support to on-site end-users as well as engineering technical support for peer teams.
  • Support the IPT with software defect resolution and enhancement efforts.
  • Engineer and test new technical solutions in lab environments, technical requirements, and / or bug fixes
  • Develop and maintain Microsoft PowerShell scripts, Bash and Python scripts, and Microsoft Group Policies
  • Work with storage systems and basic networking, Solaris 10 and 11, Oracle OEM, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, VMware ESXi, Vmware, and vCenter
  • Maintain COTS Hardware, Software configuration matrix, technical installation, configuration, update and release procedures, and automate installation of COTS software
  • Document and maintain system configurations and compatibility with existing architectures when implementing system enhancements
  • Design and implement VMware high-availability virtualized infrastructures

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time for cross-team collaboration.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related engineering experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include : CCNA Security, Security +CE, CCNP, and CISSP. This certificate must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows and Unix operating systems
  • Demonstrated experience with VMware
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. This SAP must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note : Additional SAP clearance may be required once in role.)
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Active DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include : CCNA Security, Security +CE, CCNP, and CISSP.
  • Mission Planning experience
  • Familiarity with storage systems and basic networking, Solaris 10 and 11, Oracle OEM, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, VMware ESXi, VMware, and vCenter
  • Salary Range : $137,400.00 - $206,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and / or personal business.
