How you will contribute to our team :
As a Battery Design Engineer, you will serve as the subject matter expert for advanced SolidWorks modeling and simulation, driving the design and optimization of our next-generation battery packs. You will establish and lead our digital twin program, building a foundational model library that accelerates design cycles and improves accuracy in predicting thermal, mechanical, and performance behavior. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between digital designs and real-world prototypes, ensuring safety, manufacturability, and system reliability. In this highly collaborative role, you will partner with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teammates to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions that keep Ascentek at the forefront of energy storage technology.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead development of a digital twin program to simulate battery performance, mechanical stress, thermal management, and potential failure modesBuild and maintain a comprehensive model library for thermal, electrical, and mechanical properties of battery components and materialsUtilize simulation results to provide data-driven design recommendations to the engineering teamDesign battery pack components and assemblies using SolidWorks, ensuring manufacturability and assembly fitApply advanced Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) techniques and perform tolerance stack-up analysisCollaborate with R&D to transition digital models into physical prototypes, ensuring alignment between design intent and hardware performanceContribute to the creation and execution of test plans to validate simulation models against prototype dataIncorporate design for manufacturability principles into all battery system designsDesign injection molded parts and associated toolingDesign sheet metal parts and components for progressive stamping processesManage the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process for battery designsPartner cross-functionally to troubleshoot issues and recommend design changes that improve product safety and performanceMaintain awareness of industry standards and apply best practices in battery system safety and reliabilityEducation :
Associate's or Bachelor's degree with strong emphasis in designExperience and / or Training :
5+ years in mechanical design or simulation, preferably with battery systems, electronics packaging, or complex electromechanical productsDemonstrated proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software for complex 3-D modelingHands-on experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation)Proven application of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysisExperience in transitioning designs from digital models to validated prototypesFamiliarity with thermal management techniques and electrical property considerations in battery systemsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiencesAbility to manage multiple high-impact projects in a fast-paced environmentCollaborative and adaptable team player with a solutions-oriented mindsetExperience and / or Training :
SolidWorks certification a plusDirect experience developing digital twin programs for complex systemsKnowledge of battery safety standards (UL, IEC, UN 38.3)Background in high-reliability industries such as automotive, aerospace, or grid storagePhysical, Mental, Environmental Demands :
Office and lab-based role with hands-on work involving electronic hardware and test equipmentFrequent sitting, walking, and computer use; occasional lifting up to 25 lbsAbility to concentrate on complex tasks for extended periodsThe anticipated hiring range for the role you are applying for is between $85,000 and $100,000 annually. This anticipated hiring range is based on several factors, and subject to increase based on the below :
