    This job description does not attempt to list all of the duties that are or may be performed in this position.

    Preferred : Experience in modeling and simulation

    Strongly preferred : Experience in DNV's Synergi Gas software (or other hydraulic modeling software such as WinFlow). Experience analyzing gas system assets. Plus the standard GIS Analyst language

    Primary Duties :

  • Utilizes a variety of data sources and data types to provide data analysis, queries, and applications for various clients, primarily as it relates to the geographic component. Presents analysis to various levels of stakeholders within the organization.
  • Provides GIS related technical support to the Technical Services, Operations, IT, and other end user clients.
  • Provides training and mentoring to others involved in geographic information systems and related activities.
  • Serves as a resource for emerging and changing technologies as they relate to the geographic information systems.
  • Designs, utilizes and updates customized databases to facilitate communication of GIS data in a graphical, tabular or presentation type format.
  • May represent the company as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on internal and external committees and projects regarding GIS issues and data, including other utilities, contractors & regulators.
  • Assists in design, development and implementation of GIS applications, procedures, and practices, and establishes techniques and standards.
  • May oversee daily project activities and delegate work assignments.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of satellite and aerial photography and general cartographic principles and practices, including datums and projections.

    • Minimum Requirements :

    EDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE LEVEL : Bachelor's degree in GIS or related field and two years related experience in GIS administration and / or programming; or equivalent.

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS : Requires the ability to communicate with internal and / or external customers in order to obtain and / or provide explanations and / or information on technical or other complex concepts to individuals with little or no experience or knowledge of the technical area.

    NUMERIC SKILLS : Requires the ability to perform algebraic, trigonometric, and geometric operations, analyses involving ratios, percentages and moderately complex statistical and / or accounting methods.

    COMPUTER SKILLS : Requires a very high level of computer skills to use and / or understand various programming languages for writing, modifying, and executing programs.

    WORK CONDITIONS : Works in an office environment. May on occasion work in an outdoor environment for field site visits. Requires occasional out of town overnight travel. Requires frequently performing activities including, but not limited to sitting, repetitive wrist movement and / or shifting gaze from data to PC screen. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and / or lifting.
