Introduction
This position plans, organizes and directly supervises employees performing operation, maintenance and repair of the City's water and / or wastewater treatment facilities, Distribution or Collection systems and the electronic / electrical / technology systems.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent.
- Must have at least one year of Lead or Supervisory experience.
- Five years of experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of water or wastewater systems and facilities, depending upon assignment.
- Any equivalent combination of education and / or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
- Preferred : Two years of college coursework in engineering, chemistry, water or wastewater technology or a related field.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.Completion of a one-time training requirement that includes 60 minutes of alcohol misuse training and 60 minutes of controlled substance use training, in accordance with FMCSA regulation 49 CFR 382.603 within 60 days of hire.Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.Must possess upon hire or promotion, and maintain, a Grade 4 operator certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality within the disciplines of Water Treatment or Water Distribution.Essential Functions
Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following :
Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to training, approving work schedules, recommending / approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, establishing performance goals, and writing performance evaluations.Prepares, prioritizes, and monitors staff's work and leave schedules to assure appropriate staffing levels at all facilities.Prioritizes and schedules skilled production work.Orders and maintains an adequate inventory of spare mechanical and / or electrical parts.Maintains preventative maintenance schedule of mechanical and / or electrical components and overall system equipment.Serves as Contract Administrator for various contracts.Prepares the specifications, reviews the bids, monitors work, approves payments and annual budgeting.
