Summary : The Chief of Staff and Information Systems Officer is a key member of the executive leadership team, serving as a strategic advisor and right hand to the CEO while leading organization-wide planning, performance metrics, leadership development, systems strategy, and governance. This hybrid executive role aligns executive priorities, drives cross-functional execution, and ensures Easterseals Arkansas maintains robust organizational operating rhythms (Entrepreneurial Operating System – EOS), strategic planning processes, technology governance, compliance, succession planning, and drives a leadership development strategy that prepares the next generation of Easterseals leaders. The position oversees strategic planning, operating cadence, project and change management, technology governance, and leadership development initiatives that strengthen organizational capability and culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Strategic Leadership & Chief of Staff Functions (45%)
- Serve as the CEO’s and Executive Team’s strategic partner to align executive priorities, amplify leadership effectiveness, and optimize time and resource allocation.
- Lead annual and trimesterly strategic planning cycles using ESA’s version of Traction and the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) or similar framework, ensuring cross-functional accountability and clarity.
- Drive execution of organizational priorities and high-impact projects; monitor progress, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure follow-through.
- Oversee board meeting preparation (and attend meetings), executive communications, and key stakeholder updates (including board, donors, staff, senior leadership, legislators, families / guardians, and the community).
- Act as a liaison between the CEO and VPs / department leads, fostering alignment and timely decision-making.
- Champion organizational change management, project management, and continuous process improvement to embed best practices and reduce execution risk.
Information Systems & Data Governance (35%)
Set IT strategy and governance while delegating daily IT operations to the Director of TechnologyEnsure creation and implementation of an organization-wide information systems roadmap aligned with Easterseals’ mission and business goals.Oversee lifecycle management of core platforms to ensure interoperability, scalability, security, and compliance.Ensure adherence to applicable data protection and security frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, SOC-2, GDPR, state-specific privacy laws) and lead periodic audits.Collaborate with IT vendors and partners for system upgrades, security enhancements, and risk management strategies.Translate technical concepts into actionable insights for executive leadership and the Board.Lead the effort to leverage AI and other technology for a competitive strategic advantage.Leadership Training & Development (20%)
Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of ESA’s leadership development and succession planning processes and strategy in collaboration with HR, the Executive Team, and department Directors.Partner with the Leadership Development Partner to design and implement programs for onboarding new leaders, succession planning, and ongoing leadership skills development.Facilitate or sponsor leadership sessions on communication, coaching, performance management, strategic thinking, and other core leadership competencies.Evaluate training effectiveness using key metrics; adjust programs based on feedback and organizational needs.Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth aligned with Easterseals’ mission and values.Compliance / HIPAA :
While performing the duties of this job, employee will comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas.
Employee has access to all client protected health information of the individuals directly served by this person, except psychotherapy notes. Employee will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
Director of Technology – responsible for IT infrastructure, system interoperability, and vendor oversight.Senior Director of Project Management & Compliance – responsible for enterprise Project Management Office (PMO), accreditation, and compliance initiatives.Leadership Development Partner – responsible for leadership training programs, onboarding for new leaders, and management development initiatives.Requirements :

Education and / or Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Organizational Development, or related field preferred; significant relevant executive experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.6+ years of progressively responsible leadership roles with experience in strategy execution, project / change management, and / or process improvement.3+ years of IT oversight and / or leadership experience.Demonstrated experience designing and implementing leadership training and development programs.Familiarity with nonprofit operations and compliance; experience in the IDD services sector preferred.Certifications in PMP, Prosci, ITIL, SHRM-SCP, CPTD, or other recognized leadership development credentials are a plus.Core Competencies
Proven ability to operate as a strategic advisor and trusted confidant to senior executives.Exceptional interpersonal, communication, planning, and facilitation skills.Strong background in project management, change management, and leadership development.Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Understanding of IT governance, compliance frameworks, and data security.Physical Demands : While performing the essential functions of administrative assistant, the employee will be required to sit, stand, walk use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands.
