The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. Equipped with the most technologically advanced facilities located on a university campus, the college is dedicated to safeguarding public health by studying emerging infectious diseases that affect both animal and human health.

Position Summary

This position will be responsible for performing and supporting research on influenza vaccinations by supporting the laboratory's human and lab animal programs. The incumbent will be responsible for organizing and executing the laboratory's blood and saliva samples and ensuring that trainees and other staff have samples for their experiments. Other duties related to laboratory organization and maintenance will be assigned as needed. This position will involve working on multiple experiments and may require some weekend and holiday work.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies

• Previous experience working with blood collections and processing, immunological assays, and PCR assessment is desired.
• Ability to calculate process blood samples
• Experience managing clinical records for human studies.
• Ability to organize, schedule, and manage multiple studies
• Experience reading and writing animal user protocols
• Learn new procedures and solve routine technical problems as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment and laboratory records
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a fully

productive, cooperative team member

Movement between facilities, occasionally operating heavy equipment, lift more than 40 pounds, driving as needed to complete job tasks.
