Systems Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY : The Systems Engineer will collaborate with other members of the Technology team and work closely with stakeholders to design, build, and maintain critical infrastructure such as on-prem and cloud-based servers and storage systems. As TPT works towards modernizing various systems and associated processes, this position provides a unique opportunity to directly support content creators by designing and building the very foundation that delivers creative, educational and inspirational content to viewers. Compensation : $100,000 to $110,000 annually (depending on qualifications) in addition to company provided benefits. Hybrid Work Environment : Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to the Twin Cities Metro area and report to onsite office three days per week.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY :

  • Operational Support (50% of time)
  • Manage and maintain foundational services such as Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
  • Manage and maintain virtualized environments including cloud and hybrid ecosystems (VMware, Azure, AWS)
  • Manage and maintain server and storage backups (Veeam - disk, cloud, tape)
  • Evaluate and resolve server, storage, foundational services, and application-related incidents
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to accommodate and support new and existing technologies
  • Collaborate with 3rd party service and hosting providers as a primary support contact
  • Assist and troubleshoot with end-users working on premises and remotely
  • Monitoring and Optimization (20% of time)
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate with stakeholders to improve and / or automate processes using modern tools
  • Monitor and analyze systems metrics to make recommendations that can improve reliability and performance
  • Maintain monitoring systems to detect service degradation and work towards automated resolutions
  • Planning and Deployment (20% of time)
  • Plan installations, upgrades / replacements, transitions, and cutovers of servers, storage, and dependent services
  • Apply advanced server infrastructure concepts in the analysis, study, and design of critical infrastructure
  • Collaborate with Broadcast Engineers and Network Engineer to design and build new systems and associated processes
  • Assist with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan
  • Other Duties as Assigned (10% of time)
  • Participate as an active member of the IT Team. Contribute to shared goals and innovate and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities.
  • Complete other projects and tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience :

  • 4+ years of experience of systems operation and support of Window Server and proficiency in server, storage, foundational services, and application delivery in relation to design, implementation, maintenance, support and security practices
  • 4+ years of managing VMware Virtual computing environments (multiple clusters and datacenters)
  • 4+ years of experience with on-premises, cloud, SaaS, and hybrid technology solutions
  • 4+ years of experience and a deep understanding of Active Directory, Azure Active Directory and associated foundational services
  • 4+ years of experience with Exchange Online and suite of cloud-based Microsoft tools (M365, eDiscovery, SharePoint, Teams, etc)

    • Preferred Experience :

  • 7+ years of systems operation and support of Windows Server and proficiency in server, storage, foundational services, and application delivery in relation to design, implementation, maintenance, support and security practices
  • 7+ years of managing VMware Virtual computing environments (multiple clusters and datacenters)
  • 7+ years of experience with on-premises, cloud, SaaS, and hybrid technology solutions
  • 7+ years of experience and a deep understanding of Active Directory, Azure Active Directory and associated foundational services
  • 7+ years of experience with Exchange Online and suite of cloud-based Microsoft tools (M365, eDiscovery, SharePoint, Teams, etc)
  • 7+ years of experience with monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools

    • Understanding of the OSI model and application in an enterprise environment

    Experience with industry leading manufacturers in areas of firewalls, routing, switches and wireless

    Experience with SQL, Crystal Reports, FileMaker
