Job Summary :

The Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations, implementing safety programs, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. This role involves conducting safety audits, training employees, investigating incidents, and maintaining safety documentation to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.  This is a part time position expected to work 20-24 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
• Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses.
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents; determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain and analyze safety performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Deliver safety orientation and training sessions for employees, supervisors, and contractors.
• Support emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills and documentation.
• Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inspection of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and HR teams to promote safe work practices.
• Maintain and submit required safety reports, records, and documentation.
• Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices related to workplace safety.

Qualifications : Education :

• High School Diploma or equivalent.  College a plus.

Experience :

• 2–5 years of experience in workplace safety or environmental health and safety (EHS) roles.
• Experience in manufacturing, construction, energy, or industrial settings preferred.
