A traditional German-style Christmas Market is set up at the Seattle Center next to the Space Needle from November – December 2025, but the work starts now! The market will feature traditional European food and merchandise to spread Christmas Cheer in our community and beyond.

The Seattle Christmas Market (SCM) will be entering its third year of operation after a breakout start in 2023. With an expected attendance of over 180,000 guests, our month-long market experience is the first of its kind in Washington State. Supported by the Vancouver Christmas Market (VCM), an established brand that has welcomed over 2.5 million guests since 2010 in Downtown Vancouver, B.C.

Full-Time Contract Opportunity – HR Coordinator

Seattle Christmas Market Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, professional, and detail-oriented Recruitment Coordinator to join our dynamic team. Reporting to HR Manager and the General Event Manager, the HR Coordinator will lead the full cycle of recruitment, training programs and staff morale.

This position is a full-time contract from early September, 2025 to mid January, 2026 with the possibility to extend after January. It is a combination of home office and office days, becoming full time in office & on-site from October to the end of the season.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee full cycle of recruitment and selection process for seasonal staff and some core team positions (reviewing JDs, posting the jobs, sourcing, screening and setting up the interviews for the Hiring Managers)
  • Coordination of employment offers, contracts, onboarding process & other required documentations
  • Use HR tools for optimal hiring procedure & testing (DISC test, etc.)
  • Provide employment references check
  • Work closely with the General Event Manager and VCM HR Manager in organizing all aspects of the Hiring Day, Orientation Day and Year End Party
  • Coordination of training day(s) – including structure for training days with other Departments
  • Retain staff morale with incentive plans and hospitality benefits
  • Manage staff sign-in & out tool (WhenIWork) for accurate hour tracking, support with staff scheduling
  • Generate statistics and reports before, during and after market period
  • Oversee the project budget in areas of responsibility
  • Act as liaison between SCM, staff, partners, suppliers, etc. on behalf of company
  • Maintain physical presence of SCM team on site during event hours
  • Maintain effective communication to ensure relevant departments are kept informed of activities & objectives
  • Remind and follow up with each manager about approving the timesheets for seasonal staff.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by the Company

Requirements and Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Event Management, and / or HR Management preferred.
  • Minimum 2 year of experience in Recruitment or HR related
  • Advanced proficiency with software and online tools (Microsoft Office, Airtable, WhenIWork and HRIS)
  • Diplomatic approach while working within policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Ability to multitask within tight deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with scheduling and overseeing the activities of large groups.
  • Ability to take projects from concept through execution to final production
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing environments, problem-solving skills, and an innovative mindset, including exercising good judgment and decision making.
  • Second Language (German) an asset
  • Knowledge about Employment Law
  • Experience with payroll an asset

  • Contract  $25 - $30  per hour based on experience
