About the Role
We’re seeking a Software Developer Team Lead to head development efforts for one of our product lines at Quilt. This role blends hands-on coding with team leadership and strategic guidance. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the technical direction of the product, managing a small team of 3 developers, and ensuring best practices are followed across the stack. This role will involve writing in full-stack PHP.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor a team of 3 developers
- Manage sprint planning, task allocation, and code reviews
- Foster a culture of clean code, maintainability, and continuous improvement
- Work closely with the product team to prioritize and scope features
Engineering & Architecture
Write, review, and maintain high-quality code across the stackEnsure backend services (built in PHP 8.1 using CakePHP) are efficient, secure, and scalableBuild and maintain modern frontend features using Vue.jsIdentify and implement development best practices and coding standardsGuide CI / CD, deployment workflows, and version control processesProject Oversight
Own the release cycle—ensure updates ship on time and with qualityTrack technical debt and plan for refactors and architectural improvementsStay up to date with evolving PHP and JS ecosystem trends to keep the platform modernTech Stack
Backend : PHP 8.1, CakePHPFrontend : Vue.js (Composition API or Options API, depending on current setup)Database : MySQLInfrastructure : Apache, LinuxTools : Git, GitHub, CI / CD pipelines, Docker (if applicable)Qualifications
5+ years of experience with PHP and MySQL in production environments2+ years of experience leading development teams or acting as a senior / lead developerStrong experience with CakePHP (v3+ ideally)Proficient in modern Vue.js (2.x or 3.x) and frontend toolingDeep understanding of MVC architecture, REST APIs, and application lifecycleComfortable managing release processes, PR reviews, and team workflowsStrong communication skills and a collaborative leadership styleBonus Experience
Background in managing remote or hybrid teamsFamiliarity with scheduling platforms, e-commerce systems, or ERP softwareExperience with test-driven development, integration testing, and QA workflowsPassion for diving or knowledge of the diving industryWhat We Offer
