MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Technical Writer to join our team in Fayetteville, NC .

In this role, you will contribute to a mission-focused team that will support military operators and mission partners by modernizing the IT environment, integrating advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI / ML) for data analytics, and providing enterprise persistent services like chat, video, and data mapping through various engineering and cybersecurity initiatives.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

\n

  • Writing and editing technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions

    • \n

  • Liaising with engineers, developers, and other technical personnel to create and review documents.

    • \n

  • Leading the creation, editing, and maintenance of all technical documentation for a project or system

    • \n

  • Developing and enforcing documentation standards and style guides

    • \n

  • Support technical editing, proofing, and document standardization across all publications

    • \n

  • Managing the document lifecycle and mentoring junior writers to ensure the quality and consistency of all technical publications.

    • \n \n

    Minimum Qualifications :

    \n

  • A Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, or a related field

    • \n

  • 9+ years of relevant technical writing experience

    • \n

  • 5+ years of experience as a technical writer supporting technical programs or DoW / government clients

    • \n

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and document collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence)

    • \n

  • Experience documenting IT systems, software tools, or cybersecurity procedures

    • \n \n

    Preferred Qualifications :

    \n

  • A Master's degree in a related discipline

    • \n

  • Demonstrated experience developing comprehensive documentation suites for major government or defense programs

    • \n

  • Familiarity with industry documentation standards such as MIL-STD, IEEE, or DoD 5000 series

    • \n

  • Experience with XML-based authoring tools or structured documentation (DITA, MadCap Flare)

    • \n

  • Active or recently held DoD 8570 certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP)

    • \n \n

    Clearance Requirements :

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility

    • \n

    Physical Requirements :

  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
