Job Summary

AES Indiana is seeking a detail-oriented and innovative GIS Analyst I to III to join our Enterprise Applications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing geospatial data, supporting GIS platforms, and delivering spatial analysis to enhance operational decision-making. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in GIS technologies, and the ability to collaborate across departments to support enterprise-wide initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain GIS databases and applications, ensuring data accuracy and system reliability.
  • Develop and implement spatial analysis workflows to support utility operations and planning.
  • Collaborate with IT and field teams to integrate GIS with enterprise systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning, Customer Information System, Vegetation Management, Outage Management, and Graphic Work Design tools.
  • Provide technical support and training to users on GIS tools and data interpretation.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with data governance and security standards.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to align GIS capabilities with business needs.
  • Document processes and maintain metadata for spatial datasets.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service by resolving user issues and providing timely updates.
  • Willing to work in a collaborative environment to support related applications for T&D operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 35 years of experience in GIS analysis and application support.
  • Proficiency in GIS platforms such as ESRI ArcGIS, Utility Network (UN) or similar.
  • Experience integrating GIS with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, OSI, others).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with Python, SQL, and geospatial data formats (e.g., GeoJSON, shapefiles).
  • Experience with cloud-based GIS solutions and spatial data services.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the utility or energy sector.
  • Knowledge of Graphic Work Design and mobile GIS applications.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to geospatial data and infrastructure mapping.
  • Hands-on experience with Esri's Utility Network (UN), including :
  • Modeling utility networks using Esri's UN framework.
  • Configuring and maintaining network rules, associations, and topology.
  • Supporting migration from geometric networks to Utility Network.
  • Developing and deploying UN-based solutions for electric utilities.
  • Troubleshooting and optimizing performance of UN-enabled services.
