What to Expect (Job Responsibilities) :

  • Tutor students using the Socratic method and develop critical thinking skills
  • Conduct online tutoring sessions via Upswing's virtual classroom, utilizing video, audio, chatbox, and whiteboard features
  • Provide subject matter expertise in American Sign Language
  • Assist students in achieving their educational goals and overcoming obstacles
  • Maintain a minimum of 2-5 hours of tutoring per week during the fall and spring semesters

    • What is Required (Qualifications) :

  • Familiarity with tutoring via the Socratic method
  • Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, distraction-free environment for tutoring sessions
  • Undergraduate degree, graduate degree, or professional experience in American Sign Language
  • Excellent grades in undergraduate or graduate school
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Background in teaching methodology, instruction, or college-level tutoring
  • Experience tutoring in a math or learning lab, or in a writing center
