EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma or Equivalent
CERTIFICATION :
Must hold current Basic Telecommunications License issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) or obtain within one year
High School Diplomas and college / university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.

PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Receives and dispatches emergency and routine calls for police, fire, ambulance, North East Independent School District (NEISD), and other services. Provides both emergency and non-emergency communications inside and outside the District as may be required 365 days a year for the purpose of ensuring the safety of all District property, students, faculty, staff and constituents on or around school property, during and after normal work hours including holidays. Shift work is required.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Receives incoming calls and communications from telephone, teletype, two-way radio, 9-1-1 communications, TDD, and faxes. Takes appropriate action, such as recording information, providing information, or dispatching an officer, and / or other emergency services, to an emergency scene.
2. Maintains radio contact with mobile police, other emergency / responding services / personnel in the field and efficiently and effectively coordinates responses to emergencies; handles non-emergency requests / inquiries.
3. Questions callers to determine the location and seriousness of the emergency or other services, as well as the type of response required.
4. Maintains logs of all radio communications and criminal histories, enters information into computer systems regarding stolen property, warrants, missing persons, and other information.
5. Maintains current records of emergency numbers, within and outside the District, and other important numbers which may be needed in an emergency.
6. Responds promptly to caller's needs; directs walk-in traffic to the appropriate person; communicates effectively with callers, employees, or the public, in order to provide, exchange, or verify information, answer inquires, address issues, or resolve and / or report problems or complaints.
7. Reports in a timely manner all issues, concerns and questions to the supervisor or others, as appropriate, in the chain of command. Communicates issues and events effectively with other shifts.
8. Works overtime as may be required.
9. Attends meetings as needed and requires flexibility in handling other assignments by supervisors.
10. Maintains personal certifications, training, and licenses.
11. Maintains confidentiality of information.
12. Reports to work on time every day.
13. Performs additional duties and accepts responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
