American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Float Pool night position requiring SD or compact RN licensure, with strong critical care and ventilator skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in the Central Resource Pool of a Level 1 trauma acute care hospitalAssignment involves floating to Med / Surg and Progressive Care (IMC) units with both COVID and non-COVID patient populationsUnits include a 30-bed med surg unit and an 8-bed progressive care unit, with potential flex up to 41 beds based on censusShift is straight nights with 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend and holidayUses Epic EMR for documentation, Alaris pumps for IV fluids, and Acudose for medicationsNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 3 in Pulmonary Acute IMC, 1 : 4–5 on days, and 1 : 5–6 on nights in Med / SurgFloating to other Med-Surg units required, with travelers being the first to reassignPrimary duties include providing critical respiratory and med-surg care including management of mechanical ventilation, cardiac monitoring, intravenous medications, and postoperative careTraining includes initial competency validation and unit-based preceptorship over several shiftsInterdisciplinary collaboration is integral, involving case managers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and specialty providersDress code is navy blue scrubsHoliday and rotating weekend coverage are required as part of the scheduleLocal candidates within 80 miles are accepted, with compensation adjustmentCommitment to safety, clinical excellence, and patient-centered outcomes is expected\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license in South Dakota or a compact state requiredMinimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg or IMC experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)Proficiency in Bipap, Cpap, heated high flow, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, telemetry, and general med-surg careExperience with Epic EMR preferredMust disclose previous employment with the health system and have a 6 month gap if previously employed\n Benefits\n
