job_description.job_card.job_descriptionPlan, organize, and conduct occupational therapy programs in hospital settings to help rehabilitate those impaired because of illness, injury, or psychological or developmental problems. Evaluate and establish patients' physical and mental learning abilities and analyze medical data to determine realistic, attainable rehabilitation goals within the scope of the patient’s disability. Select educational, recreational, and social activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within the limits of their mental and physical capabilities. Evaluate patients' progress and prepare reports that detail progress. Document therapy activities and maintain necessary records in patient files; assist in the evaluation and rehabilitation of assigned patients’ medical / psychiatric conditions by conferring with social workers, nurses, and other disciplines. Train and educate caregivers on how to provide for the needs of patients during and after therapy. Recommend changes in patients' work or living environments consistent with their needs and capabilities. Develop and participate in health promotion programs, group activities, or discussions to promote client health, facilitate social adjustment, alleviate stress, and prevent physical or mental disability. Consult with the rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities such as vocational rehabilitation or social services based on psychological, physical, or vocational needs. Plan and implement programs and social activities to help patients learn work and school skills and adjust to handicaps. Attend clinic on a biweekly basis to assist physicians with the evaluation and treatment of clinic patients. Correspond with insurance companies to gain approval of adaptive equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills :
NYS active Occupational Therapy licensure
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred
2 years experience as Occupational Therapist
2 to 3 yrs experience in Acute Hospital / Setting
Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance
Knowledge of human behavior and performance, patience and strong interpersonal skills to inspire trust and respect in their clients
