As a Dental Assistant at Aeris Family Dental, you will play a pivotal role in smoothing the operations of the dental office, ensuring optimal patient care and contributing to the delivery of efficient dental services. This role demands professionalism, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach towards patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Setting up and sterilizing instruments before each use.
- Preparing the work area for patient treatment by setting out instruments and materials.
- Providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
- Taking and processing dental radiographs (x-rays).
- Helping patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
- Providing patients with follow-up appointments and additional treatment scheduling as needed.
- Taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth).
- Managing infection control - preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
- Communicating with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing, and ordering supplies).
- Helping to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and oral surgery.
Requirements
Coronal Polish Certification PreferredX-Ray Certification RequiredProven experience as a dental assistant.Strong understanding of health & safety regulations.Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing and sealant application.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Detail-oriented and professional in appearance and demeanor.Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Familiarity with dental office procedures and terminology.Comfortable using computers for a variety of tasks.Strong customer service skills, ensuring patient comfort and care.
