The Data Analyst (K0238972)
We are looking for a Data Analyst to help support the Pharmaceutical Program. You will be providing insights that help us to make sound and informed program decisions. There will be routine reports to aggregate to monitor compliance and / or FWA, track utilization and / or cost-savings, project expenditures, and sometimes answer general questions. Your resourcefulness and creativity may be challenged, as there may be times where instructions are given in the form of broad goals and objectives. Gathers, analyzes, and interprets data using appropriate statistical techniques and computer software to obtain and present findings.Information is used to design, monitor, and analyze the effectiveness of existing Medicaid and health related programs for the State of Kansas.Perform economic modeling using various statistical techniques.Design queries and collect data from Medicaid database system to track multiple funded services to report on usage trends, costs, efficiencies, and effectiveness of health programs.Creates and maintains queries for utilization across managed care encounter data and specific populations when requested. Maps and traces data across multiple systems to identify and assist in resolving problems.Creates and maintains documentation for each report.Data is gathered from agency’s system, other states or other national sources.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following :
Performs ad hoc analysis and interprets results for a wide audience including DHCF staff and stakeholders.Provides data for legislative and fiscal impact requests for policy analysis.Responds to written and verbal inquiries concerning Medicaid data.Displays a readiness to expand workload to meet leadership expectation
Maintains professional currency in the DHCF purchased data analytical system as well as use of the latest analytical tools and methods.Maintain professional currency in health care and health care purchasing as these topics pertain to other job tasks.
Qualifications
Licensing & Certification : Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the StateMinimum Qualifications : Three years' experience in collecting, evaluating, studying or reporting on statistical, economic, fiscal / budget, legislative, healthcare or administrative information or dataWord, Excel, PowerPoint, AccessAbility to prepare comprehensive reports and data cleanly and conciselyStrong analytical and critical thinking skillsPreferred Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree - Healthcare, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or other similar degreeProofreading, editing, attention to detailExperience in health care or insuranceOne year experience performing analysis of procedures, policies or programsAbility to effectively collaborate with others while working independentlyMedical billing experienceHealthcare field or insurance work experienceAble to communicate information effectively orally and in writing.Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements : Minimum Requirement after Transition Period : High school diploma or equivalent, six months experience determining Long-Term Care, Elderly and Disabled, or Family Medical eligibility and has successfully completed KDHE Eligibility Training courseKansas Tax Clearance Certificate : A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas.
