Construction Estimator duties and responsibilities
- Explore documentation in order to gain a thorough understanding of the project requirements.
- Select, measure, and track important metrics.
- Visit sites, warehouses, and other venues necessary to complete the estimate.
- Perform complex analysis of collected data and metrics.
- Prepare relevant and reliable forecasts.
- Conduct complex risk analysis activities.
- Create and present reports to upper management.
- Analyze and evaluate offers.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key vendors.
- Buyout of subcontracts after project award
Construction Estimator requirements
Previous working experience as construction estimator for 5 yearsIn-depth knowledge of project managementHands on experience with complex data research activitiesGood understanding of data analysis methods and KPIsFamiliarity with computer programs such as Timberline or ProContractor by ViewpointFamiliarity with RS MeansGood time-management skillsAbility to multi-taskStrong interpersonal and communication skillsCritical-thinker and problem-solverExtremely Proficient in pre-constructionAbility to budget with partial plans or concept drawings.Proficient in on screen takeoffAbility to write detailed scope sheets for sub-contractors.Proficient in understanding federal solicitations.Ability to produce both technical and price responses to RFPs.BS in engineering, construction science or similar relevant fieldQualifications
