DEFINITION :
The role of a Dental Hygienist is a key part of dental care and maintenance. Working as part of a dental team, Dental Hygienists are responsible for performing an array of clinical duties that improve the health of their patients. This includes providing preventive and therapeutic oral health care, with a focus on patient education, screenings, and cleanings.
EDUCATION :
A dental hygienist must have an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene although a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE) :
Dental Hygienist License with the State of Oklahoma
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Valid Dental Hygienist License with the State of Oklahoma
- Completion of a course of study in dental hygiene accredited by the American Dental Association as evidenced by a degree or certification
- Current CPR Certification
- Radiology Certification
