Job Title :  Grant Assistant (CDBG, Community & Housing Focus)

Department :  Community Development / Housing & Urban Development Programs

FLSA Status :  Non-Exempt

Location :  Perris, Ca.

Position Type :  Full-time hours, long term contract role (possibility of hire)

Position Summary :

The Grants Assistant supports the planning, implementation, and administration of  Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs  and other housing and community development initiatives. Working under the direction of the Grants Manager or other senior staff, the Assistant plays a key role in ensuring compliance, documentation, and reporting for federally and locally funded programs that serve low- to moderate-income communities.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist in the preparation, submission, and tracking of grant applications and required documentation.
  • Support the administration of CDBG-funded projects, including housing rehabilitation, infrastructure, public services, and neighborhood improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor project progress and maintain detailed records for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (HUD guidelines, especially).
  • Help coordinate community outreach and engagement activities related to grant-funded programs.
  • Assist with the preparation of required reports (e.g., CAPER, environmental reviews, Section 3 compliance, IDIS entries).
  • Collect and organize data and documentation from subrecipients, contractors, and internal departments.
  • Maintain grant files in accordance with regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Support internal audits and external monitoring visits by providing timely and accurate documentation.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, responding to emails and phone inquiries, and preparing correspondence.

Qualifications : Required :

  • Bachelor's Degree plus work experience in public administration, urban planning, finance, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in grants administration, involving HUD / CDBG or other federal funding programs.
  • Basic understanding of federal grant regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Job Type : Full-time

    Pay : $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
