POSITION SUMMARY

The primary objective of the Community Engagement and Events Specialist position is to advance the mission of Feeding South Florida® (FSF) through community outreach and engagement.  The CEEM will collaborate with the Philanthropy team to meet organizational and departmental financial targets through fundraising drives, FSF events, third-party events, outreach, and community engagement events and work with the Food Supply Chain to coordinate specific aspects of food drives.  This position will be required to meet a minimum revenue goal of at least $1 million annually.

COMPENSATION : $55,000 - $60,000 Annually

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and expand annual events, quarterly events, monthly networking opportunities, third-party events, and external sort and community service days. All events and initiatives contain a fundraising component and will promote Feeding South Florida’s mission, activities, programs, and other services.

Create, oversee, and execute all FSF and third-party special events, ensuring budgets, fundraising, and attendance goals are met.

Create, develop, support, retain, and recognize volunteer committees for all special events and initiatives.

Recruit and manage county-specific fundraising / volunteer committees for events and initiatives.

Co-lead events initiated by Development Directors.

Participate in advisory / fundraising committees.

Facilitate and expand the Youth Ambassador Program.

Assist with the creation and distribution of event information or FSF collateral material through on-site presentations, internet, telephone, or by mail.

Assist with cause-related marketing campaigns and special promotions with corporate partners.

Schedule potential donor meetings, and conduct group presentations and / or tours for corporations, service organizations, volunteer groups, and others on behalf of Feeding South Florida.

Attend check presentations, grand openings, and other community events.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2-3 years of fundraising experience.

Minimum 3 years of successful event management experience.

Minimum 3 years of volunteer experience.

Strong project management skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Experience tracking and reporting fundraising metrics.

Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word and Excel required).

Computer skills proficiency required.

Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills.

Excellent writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Excellent problem-solving skills

Ability to communicate effectively with community leaders, donors, volunteers, media representatives, and other staff.

Ability to make presentations in a professional manner.

Public speaking experience preferred.

Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Hours of Operation :  Organization hours are Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. – 5 : 00 p.m., this position requires flexibility in work hours, especially during event planning periods and peak times such as holiday seasons.

Environment :  This position works in an office setting with varying periods of standing, talking and / or visual concentration, and use of office equipment.  Must maintain office safety standards. Occasional work will occur in the warehouse or outside in fields and warehouses in inclement weather. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Travel :  This position may have occasional travel for meetings, conferences, or special events which may require the use of a personal vehicle.

OSHA Standards  Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
