We are seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Associate Field Operations Technician to join our Network Operations team. This position is responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of high-speed fiber optic transmission equipment and small cell networks. The ideal candidate will thrive in the field, respond to network issues quickly, and ensure system reliability through preventive maintenance and quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all activities are performed with a strong emphasis on personal, team, and public safety.
  • Respond to network outages, service impairments, and emergencies within the assigned area.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections in accordance with company standards.
  • Install, test, provision, and turn-up SONET, DWDM, and Ethernet equipment on optical fiber networks following engineered designs.
  • Utilize test equipment such as Network Testers, OTDRs, Optical Power Meters, Multimeters, and DC plant testers with minimal supervision.
  • Operate and interpret results from RF and Small Cell test equipment (e.g., Antenna / PIM analyzers, RF power meters, Spectrum analyzers, Signal generators, Fusion splicers).
  • Troubleshoot and analyze network issues while working closely with the NOC and customers.
  • Conduct site surveys and quality reviews to verify adherence to standards.
  • Perform software and hardware updates on remote equipment with minimal oversight.
  • Access and manage Network nodes, CPE devices, and Small Cell network elements via PC or related devices.
  • Collaborate effectively across departments and contribute to a culture of safety, integrity, and quality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or two-year technical degree strongly preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in Wireless / Wireline Operations, Ethernet, or equivalent military technical experience preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • 2-5 years of experience in RF, Ethernet, SONET, Video, or fiber optic testing.
  • Hands-on technical knowledge in fiber, coax, and low-voltage troubleshooting.
  • Completion of a technical training program in RF or telecommunications is a plus.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in web-based ticketing systems and network monitoring tools.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong time management.
  • Solid understanding of radio transmitters, receivers, antennas, electronics, and fiber optic theory.
  • Additional Details

    The base range for this contract position is $26-36 / per hour, depending on experience.

    Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered.
