Accounting Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk to join our team in Rochester, New York. This is a Contract-to-permanent position, offering the opportunity to grow within the company after an initial contract period. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment. Responsibilities :

• Perform month-end close activities, including reviewing and reconciling general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and maintain trial balances and general ledger chart of accounts.
• Post journal entries and accruals on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
• Conduct account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany accounts.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and fixed asset schedules.
• Support tax return preparation for various categories such as sales, payroll, and corporate taxes.
• Provide audit support by gathering and organizing necessary documentation.
• Perform variance analysis and generate ad-hoc financial reports as needed.
• Reconcile sub-ledgers to ensure alignment with general ledger balances.
• Collaborate with the team to assess and improve internal controls and risk management processes. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred, but not required.
• At least 2 years of experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on detail-oriented tasks.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Oracle, or SAP.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookups; experience with macros is a plus.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures, including expense analysis and journal posting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders across all organizational levels.
• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong mathematical skills.
