The Herald Group is seeking a Director of Creative Strategy to join its fast‑growing creative services practice. The director will be responsible for overseeing creative projects of all shapes and sizes for both internal and external clients and stakeholders—from identifying, pitching, and closing brand development / redevelopment opportunities for corporations and associations, to developing infographics and one‑pagers for long‑time Herald Group clients.
The candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills, good writing and verbal communication ability, and excellent knowledge of timeless and recent design trends. The candidate should be a team player and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
The Herald Group is a full‑service, bipartisan public affairs firm in Washington, DC, that provides strategic communications counsel to major corporations, trade associations, and other organizations seeking to advance public policy positions in federal and state legislative arenas. We provide a fast‑paced, energetic work environment, and this position will have daily interaction with senior staff and clients. This is a full‑time paid position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Build relationships with clients, colleagues, and relevant external audiences.
Contribute to the development and implementation of communications programs.
Direct and document brainstorming meetings and creative sessions.
Shape brand standards and create procedures to ensure all products are brand appropriate.
Create and implement tailored creative strategies based on individual client requirements.
Develop content and strategies for marketing channels.
Keep abreast of the latest trends in design, marketing, and technology.
Requirements
3–7 years of relevant experience and / or a degree in design fields such as interior design, architecture, industrial design, graphic design, and / or experiential design.
Understanding of and experience working with design programs such as Canva, Figma, and the Adobe product suite.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience managing and working with multiple client brands simultaneously, and maintaining internal branding.
Familiarity with brand verification tools, such as focus groups, online panel tests, and multivariate testing.
Energetic, self‑starter and resourceful problem solver—gets things moving and keeps them on track.
Good interpersonal skills, works effectively in a team environment, can negotiate approvals diplomatically, and maintain composure and quality under constant deadline pressure.
Ability to illustrate a results‑focused approach and commitment to going the extra mile for clients. Experience communicating directly with clients or stakeholders.
A collaborative team member, with the ability to meet deadlines while managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.
