Blue Ridge Community College is seeking a Campus Security Officer (CSO) to be a uniformed presence on campus, promote lawful behavior and protect the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a professional, efficient and courteous manner. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Public Safety and serving as a staff member of the Public Safety Office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Performing physical security of assigned buildings by controlling building access, monitoring security cameras, patrolling building and parking lots, reporting any safety hazards and suspicious and / or criminal activity to the Public Safety Office, and enforcing BRCC’s Public Safety Office policies and regulations
- Various Public Safety administrative duties, including but not limited to making and maintaining Student IDs and parking passes
- Assignment to any special events and activities to provide security for that function. This may include controlling the flow of guest into buildings and parking lots, checking guest belongings, and collecting proper passes and tickets.
- Maintaining access control of campus; unlocking and locking classrooms and maintaining physical security of exterior doors
- Maintain CPR, AED, CSO, DCJS certifications
- Maintaining inventory and control of all sensitive items and equipment
- Keeping visitor logs and daily crime reports up to date
- Performing daily inspections of all assigned facilities and properties to ensure the cleanliness of those properties and report any issues found
- Conducting security inspections and preparing reports
- Acting as first responder and reporting on emergency situations and maintaining related documentation
- Checking for proper operation of physical plant equipment
- Raising and lowering flags
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
