POSITION TITLE : YOUTH CENTER PROGRAM LEAD
STATUS : PART TIME, NON-EXEMPT
SUPERVISOR : CORPS OFFICERS

SCOPE OF POSITION :
The Youth Center Program Lead assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing activities within the community center, working directly with children and other staff. The Youth Program Lead will act as a point of contact for the families and staff of the program. Work is performed inside a heated and ventilated facility in an office or recreation area environment. Noise level is medium depending on activities in progress. Exposure to weather is medium to high as children and staff go to the park, attend fields trips regardless of weather conditions. Staff are responsible for outdoor gear and should plan each day in accordance with varying weather. Occupational exposure rate is low. Personal protective equipment such as gloves and masks may be required in the course of job performance.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE :
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Early childhood education college degree / credits preferred
- Childcare experience required

Knowledge of Salvation Army practices and organizationAbility to pass a criminal background checkMaintain valid Washington State Driver’s License and pass a driver safety training annuallyCurrent CPR and First Aid Certification, or able to acquireMust possess and demonstrate an ability to work with people from all populations, including community groups, participants, and staff in an affable, concerned and caring mannerMust be knowledgeable in the areas of child / personnel safety assessment, planning, problem solving, and crisis interventionAble to maintain cleanliness & safety standardsAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrityStrong communication skills, including written and verbalSelf-motivated with the ability to motivate othersDetail orientedCapable of multi-taskingEnergetic, personable, and dependable.Competent use of computers, word-processing, spreadsheets, and the internetAble to use general office and recreational equipmentESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES :
Act as the point of contact for families and staff of the programEnsure all financial transactions are managed through Finance ManagerEnforce facility safety rules, regulations, and proceduresSupervise children and activities of the programProvides leadership for recreational activitiesAssists Youth Center children with completion of schoolwork / tutoring needsAssists with Youth Center / After-School program planningParticipates in staff training and staff development programsWorks with staff / volunteers to foster positive attitudes, life skills development, Christian values, and service to othersEnsures safe participation of members, guests, and staff in center activities and programs, adhering to safety policies and proceduresWorks with center staff to monitor and maintain facility securityAssists with care and maintenance of the facility; cleaning and organizing areas of the building and equipment as assigned by supervisorsComplete Protect the Mission (PTM) training / ensure PTM standards with children / staff are maintainedAssist with Corps Family Night Programs (troops, music program, etc.)Provide transportation for youth center programs, as neededAvailable to work nights and weekends, as neededPerform other duties as assignedPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
