Clark Nexsen, a JMT Company, is seeking an Industrial Electrical Technical Designer III. An Industrial Electrical Technical Designer III will be responsible for performing, directing, and supervising all aspects of Electrical Engineering on multi-discipline industrial process design projects of small to large scope for facilities that process minerals, fertilizers, pulp and paper, and petrochemicals, among others.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
Performing all aspects of electrical engineering design (specifically power distribution) as a Senior or Lead Engineer, including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout for industrial process design and site electrical utilities with minimal direction from supervising staffMeeting with clients to prepare and / or validate proposed scope of work for industrial process design electrical engineering servicesProviding oversight and coordination of electrical engineering projects and the electrical engineering portion of multi-discipline projects, and working with assigned Project Managers to meet client’s budget, contract fees, goals, objectives, and deadlinesCoordinating, supervising, and communicating all aspects of electrical design within multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that electrical design details integrate properly with all other disciplines represented on the design teamDirecting, supervising, training, and ensuring quality control of electrical engineers, EIT’s, and designersEnsuring staff compliance with quality control policies and procedures and providing electrical engineering QC reviews for other engineers and designersPreparing and supervising the preparation of accurate and complete electrical project programming, schematic designs, design development designs, and construction documentsPerforming and supervising electrical engineering support services during the bidding process, such as preparing addenda, amendments, and responding to RFI’sPerforming and directing electrical engineering construction phase services including representing the firm on-site, answering RFI’s, reviewing shop drawings and preparing As-built drawings, etc. as directedProvide technical input to the engineering design such as value engineering and industry best practicesWorking with, responding to, and taking direction from Project Managers and senior managementWorking independently with limited direction, but collaboratively with other engineers and designersMentoring engineering staff to foster their professional developmentActively support Company marketing and business development activitiesEstablish and maintain positive client relationshipsProvide technical guidance to electrical staffAssisting in developing new and / or revised processes and proceduresPerforming other responsibilities as assigned by the Project Engineer, Design Manager, Project Managers, principals, and senior management.Perform other duties as requiredProject responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
Performing Project Manager duties as assignedServe in the role of Lead Project Engineer on projects as assignedDiscipline design and documentation of industrial process electrical systemsDevelop discipline design approach and methodologyDevelop discipline project plan and production methodologyPreparing accurate, complete, and code-compliant electrical drawings and specifications for schematic, design development, and construction document submittalsCoordinate work product with other disciplinesReviewing calculations and work products produced by electrical engineers and electrical EIT’s assigned to the projectReviewing project drawingsPreparing scope and fee proposals for the electrical portion of multi-discipline projects or single-discipline, electrical-only projectsDevelopment of project proposals, budgets, schedules, and reportsPerform discipline QA / QC reviews on assigned projectsReview and approve discipline code analysisDevelop discipline specificationsRespond to RFI’s, owner review comments, etc.Back-check discipline QC commentsAdhere to project budget and schedule and monitor own performance relative to budget and schedulePotential travel up to 20%Required Skills

An Industrial Electrical Designer III will have 7-18 years of significant design and practice experience in a leadership role with an Industrial firm, Electrical firm, MEP firm, or multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm with substantial knowledge of applicable codes and standards as well as electrical engineering experience in an industrial settingGraduate of an ABET-accredited 4, 5, or 6-year engineering program in one of the following disciplines : Electrical Engineering Electrical Engineering TechnologyActive participation in IEEE, IES or other related professional organizations is desirableAn Industrial Electrical Designer III should be able to effectively utilize current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, accounting, and information managementWorking familiarity with design and production software to a point of being able to understand the capabilities and limitations of the programs and interact with the support staff in their use of the software is highly desirableSpecific software includes :
SKM Power Tools or EquivalentMicrosoft OfficeAutoCADMicroStationStrong experience in the design of power distribution, lighting, and communications systems is desirable24-hour MSHA miner safety training is desirableFamiliarity with MSHA standards and other related industrial process design parameters is highly desired.Design or construction experience in Design / Build and Engineering Procurement Construction project delivery methods is desirable.Working Conditions

The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties.
