Machine Operator

Position Summary

As a machinist, you'll be responsible for fabricating tooling and fixturing based on engineering drawings using both automated and manual equipment. You'll operate computer-controlled, multi-axis machining centers, including CNC mills, lathes, and surface grinders, ensuring all parts meet exact specifications and tolerances. This role involves more than just machine operation; you'll be a key player in the entire manufacturing process, from material selection to final inspection.

Key Responsibilities

Fabricate precise tooling and fixturing from engineering drawings.

Design machining and grinding fixtures to securely hold materials.

Operate a variety of equipment, including CNC mills, lathes, surface grinders, and wire EDM machines.

Perform inspections on components using standard operating procedures.

Monitor and maintain material inventories.

Contribute to writing and modifying standard operating procedures and production work instructions.

Participate in and lead site improvement projects.

Perform mid-level maintenance on production equipment.

Actively contribute to a culture of safety and cleanliness on the manufacturing floor, adhering to 5S principles.

Qualifications and Experience

High school diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree, vocational school certificate, or machinist apprenticeship is a plus.

At least 5 years of relevant experience in a production-oriented environment.

Proven experience with computer-controlled multi-axis machining centers.

Skilled in using CNC mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other manual machining methods.

Experience with wire EDM is a plus.
